Sakari Groups enable users to select a specific (Sender) from which to send a message and view responses to messages sent from that number.
Using Groups is essential to managing outbound messages and customer responses in Sakari, whether sending from one number or many.
Sakari supports unlimited outbound numbers and users on a single account.
Groups and Senders
Each outbound number (Sender) on your Sakari account must be in a Group to be accessible to the Users on your account.
Each Sender must have its own Group, and a Group should not contain more than one Sender.
Groups and Users
Place a User in a Group to authorize them to use that Group's Sender for messaging.
Groups and Inboxes
Each Group created in Sakari has a corresponding Inbox.
The Inbox displays all messages that use the Sender in that Group. Messages sent from that Inbox will use the Sender from its Group.
- Only users in a Group can view messages in the Inbox that use the Sender in the Group
- Users in a Group can see all messages in an Inbox that use the Sender in the associated Group, including those started by other Users in the Group
My First Group
Sakari automatically sets up your first Group. Learn more at What is My First Group?
Managing multiple Groups
Following best practices is essential as you grow with Sakari and add more Users and Senders.
Users | Senders | Best practice |
Single user | Single or no dedicated Sender | User (and Sender) in the same single Group |
Multiple users | Single or no dedicated Sender | All users (and Sender) in the same single Group |
Multiple users | Multiple Senders |
One Group per Sender Users added individually to each Group |
- Multiple Senders in the same Group is not supported.
- The same single Sender in different Groups is not supported.
Note for Administrators
Don't forget to add your own User profile to a new Group if you need to see Conversations that use the number in the Group.
Using Groups with Integrations
Groups manage the email-based permissions for each user accessing Sakari through an integration.
These permissions enable users to view and send messages from a specific number in Sakari via a Contact record in the integration.
Please ensure the email address is consistent between the user's integration profile and Sakari profile.

FAQs and troubleshooting
I want each user to have a dedicated number in Sakari.
Great! Add each Sender to Sakari, create a Group for each Sender and then add the specific user's profile to the Group.
Added user but cannot add to Group / not appearing in dropdown
The User's profile must be completed with a name before that User can be added to a Group. New users can add their name by logging in to Sakari.
If the user has added their name but does not appear in the dropdown, use a partial name search in the User field in the Group.
