A 'complete' status for the Send SMS action in a HubSpot workflow indicates only that a request to send a message has been successfully sent from HubSpot to Sakari. It does not confirm that an SMS has been sent across the telephone network.
If a message is not received, check Sakari to see if a message was created and sent.
Message not created in Sakari
When no message in Sakari matches the message template in the Send SMS action, Sakari could not generate a message based on the request from HubSpot. This indicates an error in the configuration of the Send SMS action.
A commonly-occurring error is selecting a Group containing a Sender that is not Active (enabled for SMS) in Sakari, or that does not support sending SMS to the recipient's destination country.
Troubleshooting steps
Trial accounts
Ensure that the message configured in the Send SMS action does not contain:
- links (including email addresses)
- attachments
- special characters
- combinations of letters and numbers (e.g. 3pm or 01/03/26)
- prohibited content (see Understanding Prohibited Content and Internal Message Blocks)
Sakari cannot create a message if the request from HubSpot contains these elements, and sends a Message Failure Notification email for error code MSG-063* to all Administrators on the account.
The message filters on Trial accounts are necessarily aggressive to prevent abuse of the free Trial offering. These elements are not filtered on paid accounts (except for prohibited content).
*For more message error codes and their definitions, please see Sakari error codes.

Cross-check the configuration of the Send SMS action against this article: Send a message from a HubSpot workflow.
Note: Sakari updated the Send SMS action for Contact-based workflows in HubSpot in June 2025.
Message sent from Sakari returns an error
If a message in Sakari matches the message template in the Send SMS action of the workflow, the integration and workflow are functioning correctly.
If the sent message subsequently displays an error in the Sakari Inbox, the issue lies with one of:
- the outbound number
- the receiving number
- the message itself
