Create your workflow
- In HubSpot selection Automations > Workflows in the top navigation
- Click the Create workflow button
- Select a Contact-based workflow. Click Next.
- Select your preferred trigger.
- Click the "+" icon to add a new workflow action.
- Select the Sakari Send SMS action. You'll find it in the choose an action menu under Connected apps:
Configure the Send SMS action
Send From Type
The Send From Type defines what phone number group will be used to send your text message from.
There are two options:
- Group - if the Group option is selected, you will select the phone number Group that should be used from the available pulldown

Custom - if the custom option is selected, a hardcoded or token value should be selected to define the Group containing the phone number you wish to use.
- Any custom Send From value must match a tag on the desired phone number Group
Message
The message you will send to the contacts enrolled in the workflow. This can include:
- Static text (e.g. Hello)
- HubSpot contact personalization tokens (e.g. First Name, Company, etc.) These are added by clicking the Contact Token text in the top right of the field box.
- Emojis 👍
- Website Links (including Sakari shortened URLs)
Media (MMS messaging)
The Media field attaches images to your messages (creating MMS messages). The image can be linked in two different ways:
- Hardcoded URL - a hard-coded link to an image URL (e.g. https://sakari.io/wp-content/uploads/sakari-logo-350x100.png)
- HubSpot contact personalization tokens - the token of a property that contains a publicly available image URL
Requirements: Supported image formats are: .jpg, .png, .gif. The recommended image file size is no more than 500kb (up to 600kb for US/CA local phone numbers).
Troubleshooting/FAQ
The Send SMS action is complete, but I haven't received a message
If no message is received after a 'completed' status in HubSpot (or 200/'success' response from Sakari) for a Send SMS workflow action, please first check Sakari to see if the message was created and sent.
The 'completed' status in HubSpot does not confirm an SMS has been sent. It only confirms that Sakari has received a request from HubSpot to send a message. If that request contains missing or invalid information, Sakari cannot create and send the message.
If there is no message in Sakari, please check the configuration of the Send SMS action for errors.
If a message exists in Sakari with an error icon, please hover over the error icon for a description of the error.
If a message exists with no error icon and was not received, please contact Sakari Support at help@sakari.io with details of the outbound and inbound numbers, and we'll investigate.
