What is The Campaign Registry (TCR)?

U.S. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are moving away from unsanctioned long codes and have introduced 10DLC as a sanctioned A2P messaging service. To establish this sanctioned channel, MNOs are requiring Campaign Service Providers (CSPs) to declare the senders and the content of the messages.

For MNOs that require this for their provisioning and registration process, CSPs will have the capability to register Brands and Campaigns in “The Campaign Registry,” a 10DLC registry.

AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Us Cellular, Interop all require a registered campaign for any 10DLC traffic.

What is The Campaign Registry?

The Campaign Registry (TCR) is an independent Reputation Authority selected by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to gather Brand and Campaign data, ensuring transparency in the 10 Digit Long Code (10DLC) network.

TCR collaborates with U.S. MNOs and companies in the messaging industry to register non-consumer (A2P) text messaging Campaigns. This registry supports a sanctioned A2P 10DLC text messaging Campaign ecosystem and offers visibility into the messaging source and content.

This enables MNOs to deliver a more reliable and predictable messaging service for Campaign Service Providers (CSPs) and Brands.

Who needs to Register?

Any business that wants to use SMS on 10DLC to communicate with their customers and/or employees must register. This applies to businesses engaged in mass texting or marketing, as well as those sending individual messages, even if not for marketing purposes.

All business messaging is considered non-consumer (A2P) messaging.

What is a Campaign (10DLC)?

A "Campaign" refers to the specific use case of your messaging and defines the type of content you will be sending. For instance, if you use SMS for marketing purposes, you would register a Marketing campaign. If you use SMS for two-way customer support, you would register a "Customer Care" campaign.

There are various campaign (use-case) types to choose from:

Standard Campaign Type Special Campaign Type
2FA Carrier Exceptions
Account Notification

Customer Care Emergency
Delivery Notification K-12 Education
Fraud Alert Messaging Political
Higher Education Social
Marketing Sweepstake
