Opted In and Opted Out dates are updated to your HubSpot account automatically.
After connecting your Sakari account with HubSpot, two new contact properties are added to your HubSpot account.
- Opted In - a date picker field (HubSpot internal field name: sakari_opted_in)
- Opted Out - a date picker field (HubSpot internal field name: sakari_opted_out)
If you want to add these to the Contact view, please follow the steps in Add the Opted In and Opted Out Properties to the HubSpot Contact view.
When these are populated
These fields are automatically updated in HubSpot when a contact replies with a carrier-level keyword (like START or STOP), with the date the response was received.
STOP and START are carrier-level keywords. When a contact replies with STOP, their number is automatically blocked at the carrier level from receiving messages from that number. Sakari reflects this by blocking any further SMS from being sent to the Contact from Sakari.
Similar restrictions apply in HubSpot based on the Opted Out Date property.
HubSpot Opted Out Date property
If the Opted Out Date property in HubSpot has any value, you won't be able to send a message from the Sakari pop-up on that Contact's page. The text box to input the message and the "Send SMS" button will be missing. You'll still be able to see the conversation history by clicking on "Send SMS" in the pop-up.
Note: a manually or automatically populated Opted Out Date will not prevent the contact from being enrolled in a workflow, or from being sent an SMS should the Send SMS workflow action be completed.
Use a populated Opted Out Date as a workflow enrolment criteria to prevent this from happening.
HubSpot Opted In Date property
The Opted In Date is populated upon receiving an opt-in keyword like START.
If this date is later than the Opted Out Date, the restrictions are removed in HubSpot.
Note: Manually updating this field will not undo a carrier-level block or unblock a contact in Sakari. This can only be undone by the contact texting in an opt-in keyword (like START).
