How Sakari Pricing Works

Sakari prices each message based on three factors:

1. Segment count – how many message segments your text contains.

2. Receiving country – where the message is being sent.

3. Plan rate – your specific plan’s per-segment rate for that country.

Segment count

SMS messages are divided into character batches called segments, an industry standard used by carriers worldwide.

• A single SMS message may contain one or more segments, depending on its length and character type (standard GSM vs. Unicode).

• The more segments a message contains, the higher the cost, since each segment is billed individually.

Receiving Country

Just like a phone call, the destination country determines the per-segment rate.

Each country has a specific SMS cost, determined by its international dialing code (e.g., +1 for the U.S., +44 for the U.K., +33 for France).

Plan Price per Segment

Your plan type determines the per-segment rate for each country.

• Higher monthly or annual commitments offer lower per-segment rates.

• Annual plans provide additional discounts, further reducing your overall messaging cost.

Calculating message costs

• Find the approximate segment rate for the destination country on your plan in our pricing spreadsheet
• You can also download your Messaging Reports in Sakari to see the exact segment count and cost for each message sent.

Example 1 — Single Message

You’re on a $25 Monthly Plan.
The cost per segment in the United States is $0.032 USD.

A two-segment message sent to one U.S. phone number costs:
2 × $0.032 = $0.064 USD

Example 2 — Multiple Messages

You’re on a $100 Monthly Plan.
The cost per segment in the United Kingdom is $0.0562 USD.

Sending a two-segment message to six U.K. numbers costs:
2 × 6 × $0.0562 = $0.67 USD

Example 3 — Multiple Destinations

You’re on a $1,595 Annual Plan based in the U.S. and send a campaign to 750 contacts (3 segments per message):
