Opt-Out and Opt-In Keywords
Sakari automatically supports automated opt-out and opt-in functions based on industry-standard keywords.
Opt-Out Keywords
The following keywords automatically opt out the number sending the keyword from receiving further messages:
STOP, CANCEL, END, OPTOUT, OPT-OUT, QUIT, REVOKE, UNSUBSCRIBE
Keywords are not case-sensitive.
Only the keyword by itself will trigger an opt-out. For example, replying "STOP" or "Cancel" will opt the contact out, but replying "Please Stop" or "CANCEL PLEASE" will not.
Opt-In Keywords
The following keywords will remove a contact's blocked status and allow messages to be received again:
START, UNSTOP
Keywords are not case-sensitive.
When an opt-out keyword is received by a number associated with a Sakari account, the contact record associated with the sending number is automatically marked as Blocked.
Attempted messages sent to Blocked contacts from any number used by the account will not be sent, and the message will display an error in Sakari.
This prevents charges for attempted messages to contacts who have opted out.

Toll-Free Numbers (US & Canada)
For US and Canadian Toll-Free numbers, the opt-out and opt-in requests are additionally supported at the network level.
Note: For Toll-Free numbers, opt-outs are recorded at the network level on a per number basis. Custom opt-in keywords will not override the network block.
Toll-Free Opt-Out Keywords
STOP, REVOKE, ARRET, ARRÈT, ARRÉT, ARRÊT
When one of these keywords is received, the Toll-Free network sends an automatic confirmation message to the recipient. These messages are sent directly by the network provider, do not appear in Sakari messaging reports, and do not incur messaging charges.
Toll-Free Opt-In Keywords
UNSTOP, START, DEBUT, DÉBUT, DEBUTER, DÉBUTER, NONARRET, NONARRÈT, NONARRÉT, NONARRÊT
SMS carriers worldwide support automated functions for end users based on specific keywords.
The keywords and functions are managed at the carrier level and are permanently active.
Confirmation message
NETWORK MSG: You replied with the word "stop", which blocks all texts sent from this number. Text back "unstop" or "start" to receive messages again.
Sakari support
When an opt-out keyword is received to a number associated with a Sakari account, the contact record associated with the number that sent the keyword is Blocked.
Attempted messages sent to Blocked contacts from any number used by an account will not be sent to the carrier, and the message will display an error in Sakari.
This avoids carrier charges for attempts to send a message to a number opted out via keyword.
