Import a Twilio number approved for 10DLC (US/CA)

Import individual Twilio numbers to Sakari after connecting the Twilio integration.

This article explains how to import a Twilio number into Sakari if you already have an approved 10DLC registration through Twilio.

10DLC registration for imported Twilio numbers (US/CA)

10DLC registration for US local area code numbers imported to Sakari via the Twilio integration is not handled in or by Sakari.

The US SMS carriers may block messages sent from imported numbers not attached to an approved registration, and you will be charged for sending them.

Pass-Through pricing

SMS sent from numbers imported to Sakari via the Twilio integration are charged per segment at a reduced rate.  You pay Twilio directly for all sent and received messages and pay Sakari a software fee based on the volume of messages sent.

1. Remove the messaging service

Follow the steps in Remove the messaging service from a number in Twilio

When a 10DLC registration is already attached to the messaging service, you will see this pop-up.  Click 'Remove'.

2. Import via Senders

  • In the Sakari left-hand navigation panel, navigate to Senders > Add Sender
  • In this pane, select Import Number and click Next
  • Select Twilio and click Next
  • Select the number(s) you would like to import and click Import

Tip: Select and complete the import for each number individually to avoid issues for one number affecting the bulk import.  Importing numbers in bulk is supported.

Note: Non-US landline numbers do not support SMS and cannot be imported.  Including a landline in a bulk import will cause the import to fail.

After successfully importing the number into Sakari, you will see the Sakari-SMS Twilio messaging service attached to the number in Twilio.

3. Configure Sakari to use the 10DLC-registered messaging service

Sakari Support can update imported number(s) to use the messaging service that already has an approved 10DLC registration attached in Twilio.

Numbers can be updated individually or in bulk; however, the process must be repeated for each additional number or set of numbers imported into Sakari.

Note: Numbers associated with the registered messaging service will no longer be usable for sending SMS messages directly from Twilio after updating the service via Sakari.

3.a. Update the Integration settings in Twilio
