A new conversation is opened when a text message is sent or received from a contact.  Until closed, a conversation remains open to send and receive messages against between you and your contact.

Multiple Conversations

Simliar to multiple email threads, Sakari supports the ability to have to have multiple conversations with the same contact open at the same time. This can be useful when using sending job notifications where the same recipient will be assigned multiple jobs for the same day.  The employee may "Confirm" a job on one conversation and "Decline" a job on a separate conversation.

Why You Should Care about Multiple Conversations

Think of each long code phone number as an email thread with different topics/subject in each conversation.

A good illustration would be a job assignment for an employee. In some cases, an employee may be assigned to two (or more) jobs for the following day.Using multiple conversations, a unique text message will be sent to the employee for each job, allowing the employer to easily track the response against each job assignment.

Let’s look at an example of this, for Mark an employee with three jobs assigned for the following day:

Text Message 1

From: 1-833-123-4444 (Sakari long code)
To: 1-555-123-4567 (employees phone)

Message sent: "Hi Mark, Please report to 123 Main Street on 10/5/2018 at 10AM. Please confirm you can make it."
Reply:
"Sounds good, I'll be there."

Text Message 2

From: 1-833-123-5555 (Sakari long code)
To: 1-555-123-4567 (employees phone)

Message sent: "Hi Mark, Please report to 456 Union Ave on 10/5/2018 at 1:15PM. Please confirm you can make it."
Reply: "I arrived and spoke with the customer. They need to reschedule the job to another day.  Can you have customer service contact them?"

Text Message 3

From: 1-833-123-6666 (Sakari long code)
To: 1-555-123-4567 (employees phone)

Message sent: "Hi Mark, Please report to 789 Elm Street on 10/5/2018 at 3PM.  Please confirm you can make it."
Reply: "I have to leave early tomorrow. I can't make this job."

In this example, Mark has received three text message job assignments, and he responded differently to each.  In the Sakari dashboard, these conversations will each by a unique thread, so the user can see what was sent, and Marks response, clearly tracking the responses from Mark to each job.
